Zermatt 2012
The great annual NJC tradition
Experience the thrill of high alpine skiing at its best
Relax in the comfort of the 4 Star Deluxe Hotel National
Enjoy the camaraderie of the Neuchâtel community

Zermatt offers a unique experience, with almost one-third of all the 4,000 metre peaks in the Alps surrounding the village, famous since the first ascent of the Matterhorn in 1865. You’ll explore four distinctive ski areas in one week: Sunnega, Gornegratt, Klein Matterhorn and Cervinia (Italy). After the challenge and excitement of the slopes, return to the comfort of the National Hotel with its spa facilities, spacious rooms and delicious food. Take a leisurely stroll to discover the shops, cafes, bars and restaurants in the quaint and car-free village.
The Zermatt Winter Holiday is a long-standing Neuchâtel Junior College tradition and this will be the 18th year that Georgia Hardy Tours has organized the trip for us. George Hardy and Brian Collinson are there to ensure you get the most out of each day. Your après-ski options include hockey games, outdoor skating to music, curling and a disco night. There’s so much to see and do, and you’ll experience it all with a great group of people – the NJC family of alumni, parents and students. It’s your turn to find out why so many people say this is the best holiday of their lives.

Teens On The Trail: Peru
An active itinerary in an ideal location, taking advantage of Peru’s varied terrain, perfect for families with teenagers.

Enjoy the vibrant city of Cusco, the colourful Sacred Valley and the chance for all the family to trek the Inca Trail. From Lima, on the arid Pacific coast, you fly to Cusco, the seat of Inca rule for some 500 years and then drive to your base in the Sacred Valley. From here you enjoy activities including biking, walking and optional rafting, passing remote farming villages, Inca ruins and the curious terraces of actively mined salt pans. Continuing through the Sacred Valley you join the Inca Trail and set off on a four-day trek through dramatic mountain scenery to the lost city of Machu Picchu, isolated amongst jungle-clad mountains and swirling mists. Leaving the solitude of Peru’s most enchanting Inca citadel you return to Cusco, the seat of Inca rule for some 500 years. As a final contrast you could take the optional extension to the Amazon rainforest, home to a diversity of life unequalled anywhere on Earth.
$3,148.00 per person (not including airfare)
INCLUDES:
> Transport - Minibus, train, boat, mountain bike, on foot, domestic flight, raft.
> Accommodation - Hotels (7nts), camping (3nts), village house (1nt), basic hotel (1nt).

Classic Peru

Exploration of Peru and the Inca Trail trek with a little extra luxury , featuring comfortable hotels and other upgraded elements. Extra local tours are included, and we stay in a hotel near Machu Picchu on the last night of the Inca Trail trek, rather than camping. Our rainforest lodge features solar heated showers and each room has a porch with hammocks for relaxing in the evenings. We now offer the Moonstone Trek as a fantastic, more challenging and isolated trekking alternative to the Inca Trail route on this trip - and no permits are required! This is an isolated route with unexplored ruins, discovery at every turn and great mountain views – an excellent introduction to high Andean trekking.
The trek starts in a quiet, rural valley between Cuzco and the Sacred Valley and finishes in Ollantaytambo, only seven miles upstream from the start of the Inca Trail. It passes through seldom-visited Andean villages, Inca and pre-Inca ruins and heads onto a beautiful altiplano plateau surrounded by glaciated peaks. Most groups won’t encounter any other tourists for the entire trek and the combination of stunning mountain scenery and wildlife, fascinating relics and real isolation is truly rewarding.
Mode of travel: 4 days point-to-point walking with full porterage. Altitude maximum 4200m, average 3050m.
Group size: Min. 5, max. 16, plus leader and appropriate local staff.
$3570 per person (airfare not included)
INCLUDES:
> Accommodation: 8 nights hotels, 3 nights rainforest lodge, 3 nights camping.
> Food: Breakfast only in hotels, full board in jungle and on trek.
> Optional Single Supplement: from $516.25

South Africa: Discover the Cape

Our adventure begins in Cape Town and we take some time to explore this beautiful city and visit its highlights, including the penguin colony at Boulders Beach and the Cape of Good Hope. We then head out into the wine regions of Stellenbosch for wine tasting and spend the night in Franschoek, known as the ‘gastronomic capital’ of South Africa. As we head down the Garden Route coast we pass breathtaking scenery, lovely beaches and pristine forest of the Tsitsikamma National Park, which can be explored. The coastal town of Hermanus offers excellent whale watching (in season) and a chance to relax.
