NJC Annual Fund
Supporting the day-to-day operations of the school
Each year, Neuchâtel Junior College challenges and inspires our students to broaden their horizons, love learning and shape a better world.
Since 1956, the people of NJC – our students, parents and family, alumni, friends, volunteers, faculty and staff – have evolved into a vibrant, distinctive and progressive community. The support of our community ensures the NJC experience endures for the next generation of students.
AN NJC TRADITION
Annual Giving, an NJC tradition, plays an essential role in preserving and expanding our experiential approach to learning by providing funds to update classroom resources and technology, opening up new travel options and encouraging diversity and excellence through bursaries and scholarships.
Neuchâtel Junior College is a non-profit school that relies upon donations to fund our daily operation. At NJC, tuition payments only cover approximately 80% of the cost of educating a student. By giving annually to the College, our alumni, parents and friends provide funds that maintain the quality and excellence of our unique and experiential approach to education.

“Last year, when I was in a position to be able to make my first significant charitable donation, I chose to give to NJC – because of all the places I’ve been to school, it’s the one that most influenced my life today.”

HONORARY CHAIR, NJC ANNUAL FUND 2010 – 2011
One year ago, I sent a letter to all NJC alumni and friends, asking them to join with me in supporting our non-profit College by making a tax-deductible donation. I am delighted to tell you that a total of $207,000 was donated, exceeding the goal of $200,000!
Support came from nearly every province, as well as from alumni and friends living in the USA and other countries around the world. Some people give every year, since NJC started the annual campaign in 1997.
Bill Massie (NJC ’62) of Petrolia, Ontario has made his donation quarterly, for 14 years. “NJC was life changing,” Bill says. “It was a tremendous opportunity for me, coming from Niagara-on-the-Lake, with very little life experience at that stage of the game. Travelling, making friends with students from other places – it was terrific.”
Montreal-based A. Scott Taylor and Marjorie Taylor, parents of Andrew (NJC ’93) and Alison (NJC ’95) have also given every year since 1997. “We are pleased to give our support because it was such a wonderful educational opportunity for our two children,” says Marjorie.
Dr. Alan Goldbloom (NJC ’66) from Minneapolis, Minnesota, is also a long-term supporter. “I gained more from NJC than I can ever repay, and I plan to continue to support the school as long as I am able. Although it is now 45 years since I graduated from NJC, I will never forget the impact of that experience on my life,” said Dr. Goldbloom.
Your support helps NJC in many ways, by assisting students who may need some financial help to participate in a school trip, upgrading classroom equipment, purchasing books and helping to fund special guest speakers to enhance the learning experience. Gifts of any amount are helpful and much appreciated. You may direct your tax-deductible donation to the following areas:
$250,000 – OUR GOAL FOR 2011-2012
- HEAD OF SCHOOL’S FUND:
Bill Boyer will direct your donations to where they will have the most impact – upgrading classroom equipment, purchasing books and computers, maintaining and enhancing the campus. - TRAVEL BURSARIES:
A gift of $10,000 will give qualified students financial aid to take part in an educational travel opportunity they will remember all their lives. - SCIENCE LAB:
In 2010, Raymond Stein and Nancy Viner, parents of Emma Stein (NJC ’10), made a gift to help us upgrade our Science Lab equipment. Their generous donation has moved us much closer to our goal of $10,000 for this area, but we need your help to get there. (It’s interesting to note that eight of the female graduates from the NJC Class of 2011 went on to study Science at universities, including Harvard, Columbia and Queen’s!)
I hope you will join with me in supporting this amazing place that has given us such great experiences and memories. There are many ways to make a gift to Neuchâtel Junior College. Learn how you can support NJC today.
